How Does Regression Therapy Help Trauma?

How Does Regression Therapy Help Trauma?

The body can carry memories of injuries and physical trauma and as it holds these memories, the mind relives them over and over, causing nightmares and flashbacks, or simply affecting the way we perceive life and relationships on a day-to-day basis.

By working with an emotion, we can create a state of hypnosis that allows the mind to be focused on memories relating to that emotion, for example, anger.  As we move through memories, emotions can come up and body memories as a result of physical trauma can become apparent.

As we work with a memory of physical trauma, I can support you to remove the weapon or restraints that the body still has the image of.  You can then stitch wounds, or apply imagined ointment to bruises, before addressing the assailant, with support. This is part of a wider process that also works for physical impact to the body where weapons have not been used.  It demonstrates the way in which Regression Therapy can deal with the emotional, mental and physical aspects of trauma. It provides a complete release and yet it is in many ways, a gentle, flowing process that provides significant relief for participants.

When dealing with assailants and difficult characters, you will be able to say anything in the session that you were not able to say in the past and you can require these challenging characters to confront their actions. This can be done in a supported way. You can also cry, shout, scream and kick, as a few examples, if you feel the inclination to do so.

As an example, a client who suffered childhood sexual abuse, experienced anxiety throughout her life whenever she saw men who looked similar to her abuser and even men who wore serious expressions. This client, after confronting her abuser and doing other work during the session, pictured some Rugby goalposts and kicked her abuser over the top of them, whilst making a kicking motion with her leg.  After only a couple of sessions she came across a photo of her abuser on social media and found that she was wondering where the photo had been taken, because of the pretty scenery, rather than having any reaction to the image of the abuser himself. Her Fibromyalgia pain also halved during the sessions and then disappeared.

The impact of the abuse was cleared physically, mentally and emotionally; never to reoccur. She then went on to have a happy relationship with a man.

The hypnosis in Regression Therapy is similar to being absorbed in a hobby, during which you will know where you are and could stop to answer your phone, but during the Regression Therapy session you will be focused on your own memories instead of the hobby.  You will also be telling me what is happening.

The aim of Regression Therapy is to fully clear all emotional and physical charge from the past event/s that are causing an issue in the present, simply by working with anything that arises. It works both in the current life and past life.
